It doesn't matter if you are running an online business or trying to make money building Adsense / affiliate niche sniper site, you won't be successful if you don't know how to increase traffic of your website.
Not all the traffic is equal, what you need is targeted traffic. You can promote your website as guest writer for authority sites, and your article must be well worth the publication! This is not a bad idea, you can easily get tons of traffic to your website with the minimum effort. All you need is provide some contents for those authority sites.
There is a better way to build traffic… you create keyword targeted content on your website, find tons of long tail keywords and create article for each keyword, then create a bunch of backlinks to each article. Most probably 50 indexed backlinks for each article will get you to page 1 or even position #1!
What is Long Tail Keyword?
Long tail keyword is a keyword build up from more than 2 words, for example:
Short Tail / Main Keyword – Weight Loss
Long Tail Keyword 1 – Lose Weight Fast
Long Tail Keyword 2 – How To Lose Weight Fast in 7 Days
How To Implement Long Tail Keyword Strategy?
Long tail keyword are usually low in SEO competition, hence you can easily rank them on page 1. Although each long tail keyword might only bring you 100 visitors a month, but add up would give you a lot of traffic. You don't have to wait a long time to see massive traffic build up!
How To Rank A Keyword On Page 1?
I'm gonna keep this simple. The basic rule of ranking a long tail keyword article on page 1 is optimising your article for a particular keyword, all you need is include the keyword in each different section of the article:
The title must contain the keyword
The first paragraph must contain the keyword
The middle paragraph must contain the keyword
The last paragraph must contain the keyword
or repeat the keyword on each paragraph, and each paragraph must have 100 ~ 200 words.
Using this simple technique to prepare your article, and next build some backlinks with the targeted keyword to the web page where you post the article.
When your website received enough link juice, you can build less backlinks while still able to rank for the keyword of similar SEO competition! That's why building backlinks to long tail keyword articles not only get you the traffic, it helps raise your website's Pagerank and boost the ranking of even more unexpected long tail keywords!
Why Don't We Target The Short Tail Keyword?
Surely, you can do that, but a short tail keyword requires a lot of backinks and a good site structure to rank on page 1, and it might take you months or even years to rank on page 1, and you won't get much traffic if your site is not on page 1!
Many people failed to see traffic because they are targeting a too competitive keyword, and they give up before any of the keywords hitting page 1. Here are some disadvantages of the short tail keyword:
Too competitive, takes a long time to rank on page 1. In other words, it takes time to see traffic
Too competitive, even you've ranked on page 1, you must have a long term link campaign for these keywords
Less targeted, usually a research type of keyword, it won't convert as well as the long tail keyword
